St. James Parish Choir

Posted on Posted in Blog Post, Choir Blog post

For centuries, our country’s cathedrals and larger parish churches have been renowned for their tradition of choral music, and our choir shares in this tradition.

The choir of St. James is an affiliated Guild Choir of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM). We follow the RSCM Voice for Life training scheme which covers all the skills and other attributes required both to contribute and to derive the most from being a member of a choir. Our choristers also partake in RSCM courses, services and other regional events, and some are members of RSCM Voices (South) – one of the RSCM’s flagship choirs which performs music of the highest quality in important venues around the country.

The choir is a mixed adult/junior choir – we welcome singers of all ages. We have an enviable music library and sing music from the whole choral repertoire spanning several centuries and genres.
