In 1971 Beverley School made Macmillan its special charity and this has continued under the renamed Coombe Boys School. In fact this is possibly a national record of support for a charity by a school. In 2010 a specially built area was set aside to rehouse the Cancer Information Suite which is a pleasant area where visitors can chat over coffee in a relaxed area with various international displays. It is situated on the right immediately after the entrance with a large nameboard on the end of the hut.
It is preferable that people make an appointment so as not to be disturbed.
The Suite is open most Thursdays from 9.30am to 2.45pm and also at other convenient times by appointment.
To book simply call 07954 287328, 020 83370801 (evenings and leave a number for contact). If phoning on a Thursday please call either 07954 287328 or the School switchboard on 020 8942 1537and ask for the Cancer Suite.
We offer the following:
- information on cancer services available
- volunteering to help raise funds for Macmillan in particular
- bereavement counselling and help with preparing funerals
- spiritual counselling if desired
- a wide range of information leaflets on cancer services etc.
