Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Why are you doing this?
I’m so grateful to St James for all they do in the community
and the personal care they give parishioners - I really wanted to give
something back. The Church really needs funds at the moment for repair of
the tower, to support the choir and mission with children and to start our
plans for becoming an eco-church.
What
is your connection to the church?
In
case you did not know I’m the new Church Warden. I’ve been attending the
church on a regular basis for over 30 years.
Why
did you chose this route?
Doing
part of the Pilgrims Way seemed to link well with the cause of Church
funds. Also it is quite convenient to get to and return from after the
walk. Many thanks to Grace who is taking us to the start at Farnham and
to Mother Katie for meeting us with lunch at St Martha’s church at the half way
point.
What
if it is raining?
Given
the weather we have had recently it looks likely but fingers crossed (and may
be a Pray) for a dry day. We’ve set the day so we’ll just get wet! Lochy
will not like it as he hates the rain!
Have
you been training hard?
We’ve
done a few walks between 10 and 13 miles going from Worcester Park over to
Epsom Downs in a big circuit. Hoping to finish the walk in around 12
hours so might have a few blisters by the end.
Is
this the start of doing the whole Pilgrims Way?
Not
sure about that unless of course there are some others in the Parish that are
interested in taking on that challenge?
