Space and time to experience the love of God. Ancient faith, beauty in worship, rooted in scripture, generous hospitality, open, curious and loving. We are serious about faith but not afraid of joy!

A choir and buildings beautiful enough for a peaceful Choral Evensong, combined with a love for babies and children which makes every 10am a Holy Communion space where families are welcome and central to all we do. (We have room for well-behaved dogs in our services too!)

How do we live as a community?

We are named after St James who is the patron Saint of pilgrims – we believe we are all on a journey. We believe each person travels differently and so we describe ourselves as a truly inclusive church where all are welcome – from the most conservative to the most liberal – we seek to help one another dwell in God’s love and to love one another in our differences.

We are a liturgical and choral Church of England church with a monastic thread of prayer, work and study flowing through all our activities and way of life. Midweek there is a Celtic Communion service, a study (book) group and a contemplative prayer class offered. We also have a volunteer gardening team who look after our beautiful grounds, and a volunteer maintenance and cleaning team who care for the building.

We want God’s love to spill out of our church – like a toddler excitedly carrying a cup – what we are given by God is so good we run with it to the world and it spills over! We are loved so we can love too. With open arms and willing hands we seek to help those in need in our community (and worldwide) through prayer, presence and partnership.
