Music this Autumn

From David Pimm, Director of Music at St James

On 17 September St James New Malden celebrates its 90th birthday. We will be holding the next in our occasional expanded choral evensongs and you are invited to join us singing some fabulous choral music (see details).

Rehearsals are in the church (entry via vestry door in Bodley Road):

           8:00-9:00pm Friday 8 September
           8:00-9:00pm Friday 15 September
           4:30-6:00pm Sunday 17 September

And the service is:

           6:30pm Sunday 17 September.

In other news:

  • We begin our new term (singing 9:30am parish communion and 6:30pm choral evensong each Sunday) with our first rehearsal back from our summer break 7:30pm on Friday 1 September. If you would like to join us on a regular basis singing for either or both of our Sunday services, do let me know, or just come along to the rehearsal.
  • We have two other big choral events this term:
    • Advent Carol Service (candle-let procession up the church) 6:30pm Sunday 3 December
    • Festival of Carols by Candlelight 6:30pm Sunday 17 December.

For regular choristers, I will assume that you are with us for the church birthday expanded choral evensong.

For our guest singers, please let me know whether you will be joining us as soon as possible; this will affect our selection of music (I’m hoping we have enough suitable singers for Stanford’s Beati Quorum Via).

I look forward to giving thanks to God with you in song for his church here at St James.

Kind regards

David Pimm
